Who We Are

 

The New York State Council of Veterans’ Organizations unites advocacy groups across the state to champion the rights, benefits, and welfare of veterans and their families. Through collaborative efforts, we address critical issues, influence policy, and provide a network of support for veterans from all walks of life.

What We Do

  • Advocacy and Policy Influence
    The Council works closely with local and state officials to shape policies that directly impact the veteran community. From healthcare access and housing to employment support and mental health resources, we advocate for legislative changes that uphold veterans' dignity and rights.

  • Member Collaboration
    We bring together over 25 veteran-centered organizations to share resources, insights, and strategies. This collaboration enables a united front on statewide initiatives, increasing our reach and impact on veteran support systems.

  • Resource and Awareness Campaigns
    Through public events, workshops, and outreach programs, we raise awareness about veterans' needs and the resources available to them. We also educate the broader community about veterans' contributions and challenges, fostering understanding and appreciation.

  • Support for Veterans and Families
    The Council and its members offer direct support services for veterans and their families. These include disability assistance, educational benefits, job training, mental health services, and family support tailored to the unique needs of military families.

    Are you part of a veteran-centered organization? Join our coalition to contribute to our advocacy efforts and access a network of like-minded groups working to make a difference for veterans statewide.

  • Volunteer Your Time
    Volunteers are integral to our work. Opportunities include assisting at events, participating in awareness campaigns, and helping with outreach efforts that directly impact veterans and their families.

  • Attend Events and Advocacy Days
    Participate in council-hosted events and advocacy days to engage with other supporters, learn about veterans' issues, and voice your support for critical legislative efforts.

Monthly Legislative Zoom Meeting

 

The New York State Council of Veterans’ Organizations holds monthly Zoom meetings to discuss state legislation impacting veterans and their families. These virtual gatherings allow representatives from our member organizations to stay informed on legislative developments, strategize advocacy efforts, and coordinate unified responses to proposed policies. This collaborative space ensures that veterans' voices are heard and their interests remain at the forefront of New York State's legislative agenda.
